Acid Asian Unveils The Night EP on Charlotte De Witte’s RPM Imprint

Brazilian artist Acid Asian is back on RPM, the sub-label of Charlotte de Witte’s KNTXT imprint, a year after his last head-turning release. His new EP “The Night” is another thrilling four-track outing that fuses hard techno, acid and trance in all new and compelling forms.

Fábio Seiki is São Paulo-based and started his project in 2020 during the pandemic. He has quickly made an impact with his fresh blend of influences from trance to rap to acid to techno. His love of a 303 always shines through.

“This EP I tried to do something different than usual for me, creating an ambient track in which I used Taiko – a Japanese instrument – with other elements and vocals to create a dark and deep ambience. Besides that, I tried not to focus as much on the acid lines like I’ve done in my last EP ‘Break Into Acid’, Acid Asian explains. “‘The Night’ and ‘Journey’ are tracks that represent this new idea in which ‘Journey’ is a more groovy track and ‘The Night’ is more intimate, focusing on people’s feelings. ‘New Statement’ is more similar to my previous productions, however this time I added a rap part because it’s part of my daily influences. I’m really happy to be able to express myself the way I wanted to with these tracks.”

Charlotte de Witte on The Night EP: “Acid Asian is back! One of the purest talents out there is releasing his second EP on RPM by KNTXT and I’m beyond excited about it. I’ve been playing these tracks all throughout summer and I love the fact that there’s an ambient track on the EP as well. It shows how talented and varied Acid Asian is as a producer. Big things are coming!”

‘The Night’ opens up with stomping drums and serrated trance synths lighting up the airwaves as alien sounds scurry in the middle of the mix. ‘New Statement’ layers up rock solid, flat-footed kick drums with turbo-charged acid lines straight from a 90s video game. Add in some spooky pads and eerie vocal stabs and you have another techno classic with a killer breakbeat break and rap mid way through. ‘Journey’ has a frazzled low end and distorted kick that are brought to life by bright melodies that dart about the scales as synths get fired with relentless precision. ‘Valley Of Dreams’ is an atmospheric and cinematic closer – the sort of menacing soundtrack to accompany the start of a final level boss battle.

This is another hugely potent EP from breakout star Acid Asian on the KNTXT RPM imprint.

Not getting much sleep is also a big part of it, but overall being a touring artists consists of mostly positive experiences; receiving incredible energy from fans, playing amazing shows & beautiful locations, building friendships with other artists and the hardworking people that make these events happen, the discovery of new cultures & food, and all the other fun and inspiring people you meet on the road.

COLYN‘‘I’m super proud of the results and the endless support I receive from my family, friends and team throughout this wonderful journey. I can’t wait to share UNFILTERED with you!’’

Videographer ARUN adds, “‘There are not many professions that would exceed the variety in documentation than the life of an international touring artist. Every day of every tour has a natural buildup, which all eventually comes together in a moment of pure joy during the show. As each episode takes place in a different corner of the world, it allows for many scenic and cinematic elements, amplified by the beauty of Colyn’s filmic music. Being on tour for months and spending so much time together developed into a special connection that also enabled me to create something real, human and funny. The idea was to make it feel like the viewer becomes part of the tour, which I tried to accomplish by shooting alone instead of having a full crew. I am beyond excited to show you the result.’’

This documentary series is set to offer a rare but vital look at the real life of a touring artist.

3 Things DJs Should Never Do On Stage

Asking the fans that appreciate and love their favorite DJs, we had the chance to sum up 3 crucial things that DJ should never do while playing.

Never get too drunk or high

Well, this sounds pretty obvious, you can’t be in control of your actions while drunk or high. But you probably witnessed this at least once…

Don’t get us wrong, having couple of drinks is normal for any artist, but being cross-eyed on stage can lead to embarrassment… and even worse, disappointment from your fans.

Talking on the microphone

A noticeable trend among EDM sets, we noticed some DJs are tring to get the crowd into their set by consistently shouting into the microphone… This is wrong as the people are losing the drive and set should be a musical journey to remember.

Playing bangers only

Fake it till you make it… Well, no. Your fans can tell if a DJ is being authentic and when they are playing Beatport Top 50. Or even worse, coping playlists from more popular names… Same goes with playing overplayed songs…

What’s the thing DJs should change in your opinion? Let us know in the comments.
